How can I be sure I'm getting real BOTOX?

Dr. Tsai only uses BOTOX for injections that has been directly purchased from Allergan. No substitutes are used.

Are Botox injections painful?

Botox treatments cause little discomfort; most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. Overall, the sensation is minimal and temporary.

When will I start to see results from Botox treatments?

You should start to see a visible improvement within a few days. The area may continue to improve for up to a week.

How long will the results last?

When administered properly, the effects of anti-aging BOTOX treatments can last up to 4 months.

How will BOTOX affect my facial expressions?

When used as treatment for wrinkles, BOTOX is injected in small doses directly into the muscles that cause those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows to form, allowing that area to smooth out. It won't affect your ability to laugh, smile, or otherwise express yourself. You will still be able to frown or look surprised-without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What is the cost of Botox injections? Is it expensive?

Actually, Botox injections are quite affordable. Each treatment is tailored to your specific needs and the overall cost of Botox treatments is limited to the number of injections used. You are only charged for the amount that you required to get the desired effect.

What causes frown lines and crow's feet?

Frown lines and crow's feet are what doctors refer to as "dynamic" wrinkles, meaning they are caused by the repetitive movement of an underlying muscle. As we age, our skin becomes less tight, and this repetitive movement (caused by squinting, worrying, etc.) eventually causes our skin to crease or wrinkle.

How are Botox injections used to treat wrinkles and reduce signs of aging?

Botox is a purified form of the botulinum toxin. For treatment of wrinkles, it is injected in miniscule amounts into the appropriate muscle, causing the muscle to relax and thus diminish or eliminate the dynamic line or furrow. Botox treatments have been used for more than ten years to treat opthalmological disorders, and is fast becoming the chosen non-surgical treatment to reverse signs of aging. After treatment, a patient treated with Botox injections can still frown and smile, but the expression wrinkles around the eyes and forehead are diminished when they do. Normal facial expression is unaffected. Correction with Botox is very natural, and patients who have been treated describe themselves as having a more "wide-eyed," "rested," and "less angry" look.

What areas can be treated with Botox?

Currently, Botox is used around the eyes (for crow's feet) and on the forehead (for frown lines) to reduce dynamic lines and furrows. It can also be used to treat prominent neck bands or cords.

Is Botox safe?

Yes, Botox is safe. It has been used for more than ten years to treat opthalmological and neurological disorders. Serious side effects from Botox are rare.

Are there any side effects from using Botox?

The most common side effect of Botox treatment is a temporary bruising at the injection site. This disappears within several days, and can be covered with makeup. In rare cases, Botox may travel and cause a droop in an eyelid; however, these effects are completely temporary. Dr. Tsai can discuss any side effects that can be caused by Botox injections.

How soon after treatment will I see results?

The effects of anti-aging Botox treatments become apparent in the first three to five days after treatment.

Can Botox be combined with other treatments for wrinkles or facial rejuvenation procedures?

Botox injections can be an ideal adjunct treatment to other facial rejuvenation procedures such as laser skin rejuvenation, Restylane etc.
